One question people ask me from time to time, especially when dealing with a new client, is why I am so passionate about championing new businesses and start-ups? In my latest post, I will explain why.
When I started my web design business in 2017, it was a bit of a step into the unknown for me. Sure, I’d been designing websites as a favour to friends and family for many years (right back to my first dabbling with the DotNetNuke platform). That said, it was a whole different ball-game deciding to do it for a living, and one that I couldn’t have made without the help and support of my partner.
Whilst I had no problems designing my website for my business, I still didn’t know if people would actually want to use my services. And I think this is something that will resonate with any business owner when they start out.
This is why I champion start-up companies so much because I know the feeling of starting out all on your own. The one thing a new start-up is going to need is an impressive website to help sell not just their business, but the whole ethos of the business and the reasons as to why they are passionate about it.
As an example, towards the end of 2018, Dani Koroma of Image Vale Stylinggot in touch with me to find out if I could help her launch her personal styling business website. I was so impressed with her passion for her new venture that I wanted to ensure that she had a website that would get her noticed. As I do for any client, I pulled out all the stops and explained how I would be able to help her. In her words, she chose to use my services because she had a gut feeling about how I work and liked it. For any business owner, that is the highest form of accolade you can hope to get, a client who trusts you to deliver on your promises and go the extra mile for them.
How I helped Dani is how I help every business owner, especially start-ups who are having to juggle so many aspects of launching their business. I want to make the process of having their website designed, built and hosted one thing they don’t have to worry about. And once the website is launched, I want them to feel comfortable in asking for any help I can give them, be that in tweaking a few words here-and-there that they’ve had second thoughts on, or tweaking the SEO as the website beds in to try to maximise their search engine ranking.
